Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Nick Chulos is the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of First Midwest Bancorp, Inc. and First Midwest Bank. In this role, Nick is responsible for the oversight and overall direction of First Midwest’s legal and government relations functions, legal regulatory affairs, and corporate governance. He also has significant involvement in board of directors’ processes and corporate development, including mergers and acquisitions.

Nick has practiced law for more than 30 years, focusing on general corporate, public company, financial services, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance matters. Prior to joining First Midwest in 2013, Nick spent 25 years with the law firm of Krieg DeVault LLP (based in Indianapolis), where he was a partner and held various firm and client leadership roles.

Nick is involved in several professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, Illinois and Indiana Bar Associations, American and Illinois Bankers Associations and the Mid-Size Bank Coalition of America. He is a past board member of Prevent Blindness Indiana and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana, as well as a past member of the Indiana Business Law Survey Commission (appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels). He also chaired the Business Law Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association.

Nick holds a JD degree from Washington University (St. Louis) and a bachelor’s degree from Elmhurst College.
