Mark G. Sander - President and Chief Operating Officer - First Midwest Bank

President and Chief Operating Officer


Mark Sander is President, Chief Operating Officer and a Director of First Midwest Bancorp, Inc. and First Midwest Bank. He is responsible for the operating performance of the bank, including oversight of the company’s commercial, consumer and wealth management lines of business, as well as credit administration, operations, information technology, marketing and communications.

Mark has more than 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining First Midwest, he served as Executive Vice President, Head of Commercial Banking at Associated Banc-Corp, where he oversaw its commercial banking, treasury management, insurance brokerage and capital markets businesses. He also served as a member of the Executive and Asset-Liability (ALCO) committees. Prior to Associated, Mark held several leadership positions at Bank of America and LaSalle Bank, a $110 billion asset subsidiary of ABN AMRO, N.V.

Mark is on the Executive Committee of The Banker’s Club of Chicago and an active member of the Economic Club of Chicago. He is on the Board of Directors for the Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo and on the Board of Regents for the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. He is also a member of the Dean’s Business Council for the Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Mark earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Illinois.
