First Midwest Celebrates 100th Anniversary in Tinley Park
First Midwest Bank recently celebrated an important milestone in the southwest suburbs. The bank marked its 100-year anniversary of providing financial services to the community in Tinley Park, Illinois during their Community Appreciation Week. It was initially opened in 1912 as Bremen State Bank, located at 17316 S. Oak Park Avenue, where the Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce currently stands. The institution opened with a single cashier in charge of the entire bank. Bremen Bank was eventually purchased by Heritage Bank, which was then acquired by First Midwest Bank, and in 1966 moved to its current location at 17500 S. Oak Park Avenue.
As part of the Community Appreciation Week, First Midwest hosted a food drive to support several local food banks in the south suburbs. The bank encouraged the community to be a part of the celebration and help the bank feed 100 local families during their 100-year anniversary. First Midwest also committed to donate $1.00 for every pound of food collected during the week. Along with the food drive, various events were also held at all 3 Tinley Park branches throughout the week. Clients, community and municipal members were also invited to attend an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Tinley Park Main location. At the conclusion of the week, over 300 pounds of food and $300 from First Midwest Bank was presented to the local food bank, Together We Cope.
